Good code travels with good conduct.
Loom Conductor is an open-source project built in public. These are the expectations for everyone who takes part, in every space the project runs.
The short version
Be respectful. Assume good faith. Critique the code, never the person. Welcome newcomers the way you wish you had been welcomed, because a first issue or a first pull request is how every contributor starts. A blunt technical objection is fine. A blunt technical objection aimed at someone's character is not, and the difference is usually obvious to everyone reading.
The full, binding document is CODE_OF_CONDUCT.md in the repository. This page is a plain-language summary, and where the two differ, the repository document wins.
In practice
What that means day to day.
What we expect
Clear, honest, technical communication. Disagreement argued on the merits. Patience with people who know less than you, and curiosity toward people who know more.
What we will not accept
Harassment, personal attacks, discriminatory language, or sustained disruption. None of it, regardless of how good the offender's patches are.
Where it applies
Issues, pull requests, code review, discussions, and anywhere else someone represents the project. If you are wearing the project's name, the conduct standard travels with you.
Reporting and enforcement
If someone crosses the line, report it through the channel listed in the repository document. Reports are read by the maintainers, handled with discretion, and kept as confidential as an investigation allows.
- Responses are proportionate. A first lapse in tone usually earns a quiet correction, not a ban.
- Serious or repeated violations can mean removal from project spaces. Technical contribution does not buy an exemption.
- Reports made in good faith will never be held against the reporter.
Most of the time none of this machinery is needed. The project runs on the same principle as the app itself: do the work well, verify it, and treat the people around the work with respect. Questions about the policy can go through the contact page.
Hand it the work.
